🦋 New Projects, Fresh Finds & a Call for Your Story
Thanks to everyone who came out to our Craft Café & Supply Swap this weekend—such a joy to see your faces, your projects, and your generous swap contributions. 💛
This week, we’ve got a lot to flutter through: a fresh batch of butterfly project ideas (perfect for our June theme), some beautiful new arrivals on Remnants, a new Question of the Day to spark conversation, and—we’ve tallied the votes—our tie giveaway winner has officially been chosen!
Let’s get into it 🧵
💬 What’s Happening in the Community
Check out what’s buzzing around the community this week:
👔 Tie Giveaway Update: It Ended in… a Tie!
We had five awesome entries for our 150-tie giveaway, and when voting wrapped… we found ourselves in an actual tie. So we turned to fate and did a random drawing to decide the winner.
Drumroll please… 🥁 Congratulations to Laura Covillon! We can’t wait to see what you make with all those ties. Thanks to everyone who entered and voted—you made this giveaway so much fun.
🧠 Today’s Question of the Day is a fun one…
We love learning what makes each of you tick, and this one might just reveal a hidden chapter or two. Head over to the community and tell us: What’s a juicy detail from your life that sounds made up—but isn’t? We’re ready for your “you had to be there” moments!
🦋 Project Inspiration: Butterflies Take Shape
This month’s theme is all about butterflies—in spirit, in shape, or in texture. Browse these creative examples, then head to Project Show & Tell to share your own butterfly-inspired upcycle!
🧵 Monarch Butterfly String Art
String art is a classic craft with so much room for creative reuse—and this monarch design by HorseAndCarriageCo is a beauty. If you’re inspired to make your own, consider using a scrap piece of wood as your base, mismatched or bent nails that aren’t quite right for other jobs, and string or yarn from your pile of leftovers. It’s a great way to honor the butterfly theme while using materials you already have.
🪡 Monarch Butterfly Appliqué Quilt Block
Looking for a butterfly project with heirloom charm? This tutorial by Laundry Basket Quilts walks you through how to create a monarch butterfly quilt block using appliqué techniques. It’s perfect for showcasing fabric scraps in warm, winged hues—and a lovely way to turn leftover textiles into something truly timeless.
🖼️ Denim Moth “Taxidermy” Wall Art
This creative twist on faux taxidermy by Pillar Box Blue uses scrap denim to craft a stunning moth silhouette mounted for display. It’s an unexpected and elegant way to repurpose worn-out jeans—and proof that even the most rugged materials can take flight when shaped with imagination.
