Playing with Florals, Voting for June, and a Craft Date This Sunday
This week’s Make Something Temporary attempt was a little different—I didn’t really “make” anything at all. Instead, I just spent some time playing with florals: moving stems around, noticing the way they caught the light, how the colors sat against different surfaces. It was quiet, simple, and a nice reminder that exploration counts as making, too.
Meanwhile, I’m already thinking ahead to June! Our next project theme is up for a vote in the community and I’d love your input. Voting is open through May 27th, so come cast your vote and help shape what we create together next.
And if you’d been meaning to pop into the virtual craft meetup before we benched it—this Sunday’s your chance! It’s super casual: just crafting over Zoom with a few new friends for an hour. You don’t need to prep or present anything—just show up and make alongside us.

👟 Project Inspiration: Sneaker Upcycles
Inspired by a charming video from Flynn and Mabel, where a bit of floral fabric gives a pair of well-loved Chucks a whole new personality, we took a deep dive into the world of sneaker upcycling—and now we’re completely hooked.
From patching worn spots with bold fabric scraps to painting custom designs, adding embroidery, or even replacing laces with ribbons, there are endless ways to give your shoes a second life. It’s sustainable, stylish, and a great excuse to get creative with something you already own.
