✨ Kaleidoscope Kicks Off with a New Incentive

Last month, we ended on butterflies—and I mentioned that a group of them is called a kaleidoscope. So when Kaleidoscope ended up being your pick for July’s project theme, it felt… kind of perfect.

This week, I’ll share three kaleidoscope-inspired project ideas to get you started, plus a fun new element 🎁 we’re adding to this month’s prompt. If you’re in LA, don’t forget: our next Craft Café & Supply Swap is this Sunday (come hang!). And for everyone else, our next virtual craft meetup is next Wednesday evening! RSVP here to get a reminder.

Also a quick heads up that a big Christmas in July supply drop is coming soon to Remnants. Yes, already. Yes, it’s good.

Let’s get into it →

💬 What’s New in the Community This Week

👋 Intros Have a New Home!

We’ve moved our “Introduce Yourself” space into its own dedicated corner of the community—so there’s more room for longer stories, fun facts, and reintroductions, too. Whether you’re brand new or have been around a while, we’d love for you to pop in, say hello, and tell us a bit about yourself (or give us an update!). Re-intros welcome. 🧵💬

🖼️ Our Monthly Project Theme is Now Our Creative Challenge

This week we’re excited to share that our monthly project theme has a bit of an upgrade, and a new twist!

First, we’re excited to launch our new space for project submissions. A cleaner, easier to navigate way to add your projects to the challenge.

And now, there’s a fun new reason to share your work! 🎁🎁🎁

One lucky participant will receive a $25 free goods code to spend on the Peo Vee collection on Remnants—our curated shop of creative reuse supplies! (Shipping not included.)

🛠 How to Enter: just post your project here. That’s it! You’ll be entered into our monthly drawing.

This challenge is open to all registered Peo Vee members. More details, terms and conditions can be found here.

🌀 Kaleidoscope Project Inspiration

Getting Started: Kaleidoscope Drawing
This quick video shows how to create kaleidoscope-style drawings using lines of symmetry and reflection. It’s a fun, meditative way to play with patterns—and perfect way to get started thinking about this month’s kaleidoscope theme.

Where Rorschach Patterns & Kaleidoscopes Meet
Saw this beautiful Kaleidoscope Fabric from Windy O’Connor and had a lightbulb moment—what if we used the ink blot method with multiple colors? The mirrored symmetry could make for stunning kaleidoscope-style textures. Abstract, vibrant, and totally one-of-a-kind.

Felt Kaleidoscope Broaches
Felt kaleidoscope brooches are a burst of color you can pin right to your outfit. These simple, wearable pieces photographed by designedbyjane are a practical way to bring the kaleidoscope theme to life—layered felt shapes, playful palettes, and easy assembly make them perfect for a quick afternoon project with big visual payoff.

New in the Blog:

Chenille Bedspreads: To Cut or Not to Cut?

Chenille is one of those materials that tugs at your heartstrings and your creative brain. All that texture. Those tufted florals. The perfectly faded pastel peacocks. It’s nostalgic and inviting and ridiculously good for projects. But it’s also… kind of a relic. And once you make that first snip, there’s no going back.

So what’s the move? Let’s talk it through.

This week, as you’re diving into kaleidoscope creations, or hunting through Remnants for the perfect piece—keep sharing, keep making, and keep showing up. We’ll be right here waiting to see what you create!

See you in the community 💛
