🧵Fold it, weave it, swap it, read it.
Another second Sunday has passed, and with it another Supply Swap at Circular Library. Each month, I’m reminded how important these gatherings are. People show up to de-stash, while others light up at the chance to give new life to supplies once tucked away.
This past Sunday, a newcomer brought bags (yes, bags) of fabric. I watched as folks cut the pieces into sections, taking only what they needed but reveling in the free-for-all joy of shared resources. Even the donor was thrilled to see her fabric instantly useful to others. It is a win-win reminder that what we are tempted to toss is often exactly what someone else is searching for.
Back at my desk this week, I have a little pack of origami papers left behind from Sunday. It felt right to lay them out and fold something for our September challenge: Between the Folds. Will it be a ring? A basket? Whatever I make, I will share it in the community, and I hope you will join in too.
Let’s get into it →
💡Project Inspiration: Woven Materials
This week, we're digging into the folds of woven projects. Don’t forget: if you’re taking part in this month’s Between the Folds challenge, share your project in the community! Every post enters you into a drawing for $25 in creative reuse goodies from Remnants.
✨ Diagonal Weaving with Bias Tape
In this video tutorial, hellohydrangea demonstrates diagonal weaving inspired by classic French bistro chairs using dyed twill tape. And here’s a thought: we get a lot of opened bias tape in our donation bins… maybe it’s time to weave it into something beautiful instead of letting it sit. 🤔

Nylon Doll Heads: Creepy, Cute, and Crafty—A Dive into Squishy Faces
One slow weekend, I wandered into an estate sale and spotted a bin on a shelf, filled with weird little doll heads. They were kind of adorable, but in a way that made you blink and ask, “Are these… made from nylons?”
People’s reactions split cleanly. Some say “creepy,” others whisper “aww, TOO cute.” I fall somewhere in the middle, but I love how these little faces make you feel something.
That’s a wrap for this week’s round of inspiration and finds. From folded paper and woven bias tape to bins of stencils tucked in old albums, there’s always something surprising waiting for us in creative reuse. If you’re in Los Angeles, I hope to see you at our next Supply Swap (countdown is on!). And for everyone everywhere, don’t forget to post your Between the Folds projects in the community to get entered in this month’s giveaway.
In the meantime, dive into the new arrivals, check out the posts that caught our eye, or head to the blog for a delightfully odd deep-dive into nylon doll heads. However you spend your week, I hope you find some little scrap of inspiration to carry you forward.
Until next time,
Molly ✨
